An updated version of the new NIS schedule is available for review. During the March school board meeting, the NIS scheduling committee was directed to revise the proposed NIS schedule to accommodate band, strings, and choir instruction within the school day. The new schedule has been adjusted to meet the board's request.
The schedule places band, strings, and choir at the beginning of the school day, starting at 7:20 a.m. Students needing academic intervention will be able to participate in band, strings, and choir as well as receive the necessary academic support.
Literacy, math and intervention blocks have been scheduled for each team. Other content areas will be integrated into the language arts block or taught where there is white space on the schedule. The schedule is designed to make efficient use of all available staff needed to support student learning. All special education teachers and support staff will be used to meet with students for academic intervention at the beginning and end of each day.
The structure also allows each team to have the identical schedule of another grade level team, which lends itself to cross team collaboration. See the schedule proposals below.
